WHO ARE WE?

KATU FILMES is a film production company based in Rio de Janeiro that has been dedicated to producing impactful films since 2011, depicting the struggles and hardships of the Brazilian people. Our main mission is to make cinema a tool for social transformation and critical reflection on reality.

Our method involves affirmative inclusion through the participation of the characters in the creative process of our projects, via technical workshops that empower people to tell their own stories through cinematography. The camera and script create channels for an ocean of repressed creativity.

Beyond the films, these encounters have already led to the training of Indigenous directors and producers and the creation of a company of actors who have come out of the prison system. The knowledge gained by our team through these exchanges has made us more humane and, therefore, better prepared for the long journey still ahead of us.
